Record as Madiga in the Caste Column: A Call from Dr. Siddharaju Swamiji

Tumakuru:

The state government is on the verge of initiating crucial survey work related to internal reservation, a move that has significant implications for various communities. In light of this, Dr. Siddharaju Swamiji of Palanahalli Matha has issued a strong call to action, urging individuals torecord “Madiga” in the caste column during this vital survey.

Dr. Siddharaju Swamiji emphasized the importance of this directive during a recent meeting with community leaders and activists. In a statement released to the media, Swamiji stressed that accurately recording “Madiga” in the 61st column is not merely a procedural step but a crucial act that will pave the way for the Madiga community to access essential government facilities.

Swamiji articulated that documenting their caste as Madiga is a powerful way to demonstrate community unity, ensuring that the community receives the benefits and entitlements to which they are rightfully entitled. Furthermore, he highlighted that this accurate recording will play a pivotal role in securing political, social, and educational opportunities for the Madiga community.

Echoing Swamiji’s sentiments, Belagumba Venkatesh, President of Tumakuru Samruddi Education Trust, urged Madigas to actively participate in the survey and record their caste as Madiga. He cautioned against any misrepresentation of caste, emphasizing that such errors could lead to future difficulties in accessing government facilities, entitlements and deserved recognition.

“Our community’s many leaders, Swamijis, and leaders’ struggle have finally brought internal reservation to the stage of implementation. Our community needs to move forward united in this regard. Also, during the survey work, let us all move forward to get the facilities by recording our caste without any mistakes,” Swamiji stated.

Belagumba Venkatesh reiterated this call, urging the Madiga community to participate in the survey without hesitation and to unequivocally record their caste as Madiga, avoiding the use of alternative caste names such as Adi Karnataka or Adi Dravida.

The unified call from Dr. Siddharaju Swamiji and Belagumba Venkatesh underscores the critical importance of accurate caste documentation in the upcoming survey. It is a call for community solidarity, for claiming rightful entitlements, and for shaping a future where the Madiga community can access the opportunities they deserve.
