Caste Survey in Disarray: Extension of Period Welcomed
Tumakuru: The state government has started the internal reservation survey work, but this survey work is not progressing as expected. Server problems and a lack of proper training for teachers have derailed the survey work. I brought this to the attention of the Deputy Commissioner and urged them to resolve the issue. Now, Samruddhi Education Trust President and Dalit leader Belagumba Venkatesh says that the Deputy Commissioners have extended the survey period in the district, acknowledging the problem, and he welcomes this move.
Internal reservation survey work is going on in Tumakuru district. However, a teacher assigned to the survey work can only collect information from two to three families a day because of the server problem. In addition, the lack of proper training for teachers is hindering the survey work. We emphasized that teachers need more training. The district administration had informed us that the survey work would be held till May 17. But the entire survey work cannot be done in this period. We cannot collect the expected information because the survey work is progressing at a slow pace. We requested that the Deputy Commissioners should take cognizance of this and extend the stipulated date further. Also, we asked them to resolve the server problem, so the survey work can proceed smoothly. Now, Deputy Commissioner Shubakalyan has understood the problem and extended the survey period, which is a welcome step. Belagumba Venkatesh urges Madiga brothers to participate in the survey without fail and provide accurate information, as the survey work is already in its final stages.
